The Stuart City Council met in regular session.
The Council took no action on a resolution supporting a submission of an application to the Hometown Pride Program, as there was not enough interest in the program from other communities that would also be part of the submission group. They also approved the site plan, request for a sidewalk waiver and request for a landscape waiver from Travel America.
The Council then tabled a decision on possible joint financing of a utility electric substation until their joint meeting with the Utilities Board on Thursday, as well as approved the second reading of an ordinance amending a section of code regarding speed regulations, the sale of a 1992 Ford F700 pumper truck from the fire department, and the hiring of a full time paramedic. Other items approved include a resolution adopting a 2025-26 city budget amendment, an agreement for maintenance and repair of primary roads in municipalities from the Iowa Department of Transportation, renewal of the contract with Main Street Marketing, appointment and approval of Cemetery Committee members, and the final acceptance of the MidAmerican Energy sanitary sewer extension on Southwest 7th Street going west from Adair Street.
