As the weather continues to get nicer, there will be more traffic on both county and city roads.

Dallas County Sheriff Adam Infante reminds motorists to be cautious when meeting farm machinery on the roadways.

“Spring means planting and planting means that there’s going to be a lot more farm implements in the roadway. They have a job to do and you have to be careful with them when you’re driving as well. Springtime driving in the state of Iowa is an adventure. I hope we get through it safely and we can all move on to summer and just watch the corn grow.”

Infante adds that motorists should also pay close attention on city roads as there has been an increase in the use of electric bikes and scooters. He details that while residents are used to hearing motorcycles in the spring and summer months, e-bikes are silent and are traveling around 20 miles per hour.

Infante encourages community members to keep an eye out for e-bikes and scooters, especially at intersections.
