District 12 Senator Amy Sinclair

As the Legislative Chambers have finished the 2026 session, legislators take a look at the bills that have passed.

Senator for District 12 Amy Sinclair says that there are several that she looks on as being some good ones that they were able to get to the governor’s desk. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that a few pertained to education.

“There are a couple of bills related to classroom violence that I am very excited that are getting to the governor’s desk. I don’t think teachers should be exposed to some of the behaviors out of students that are repeat and violent and harmful and frankly are assault. And so giving some tools to teachers and school districts on how to handle those situations, there are a couple of bills going to the governor related to that.”

Sinclair mentions that another bill that moved to the governor’s desk that she was excited for changed the severity of first offense animal torture from an aggravated misdemeanor to a felony. She adds that with the observed correlation between animal torture to eventually harming humans, this was a big bill to have been passed.
