The Adel-DeSoto-Minburn Girls and Boys Track and Field Teams competed in the Iowa High School Class 3A State Qualifying Meet in Glenwood on Thursday, as they were able to advance a good amount of their individuals to the state meet in Des Moines.
The ADM Girls won the meet with 175 total points, while the boys racked up 172 points to garner first place. Athletes or relay teams that place top two in each event automatically qualify for the state meet. The girls that will be heading to state for the Tigers include seniors Elise Coghlan and Haley Nelson in the 100 Meter Hurdles, as Coghlan and freshman Clara Uthe will be going in the 400 Meter Hurdles.
Also, ADM senior Lauren Hagedorn advanced in the Girls Discus Throw and Shot Put, while junior Isabelle Book qualified in the Girls 200 Meter Dash. The Tiger girls represented well in the relays, as the 800 Sprint Medley, the 4×100, 4×200, the 4×100 Shuttle Hurdle, the 4×800, and the 4×400 all advanced to the state meet.
ADM’s Boys will have a healthy amount of athletes in Des Moines too, with sophomore Zane Johnson who will be going in the 100 Meter and 200 Meter Dash, followed by junior Parker Hook in the 400 Meters, senior Ty Landphair and sophomore Jack Leistikow in the 800 Meters, as well as senior Nick Subbert in the Discus Throw, and junior Reid Kluesner in the High Jump.
The Tigers Boys will also have several relays at state, including the 800 Sprint Medley, the Distance Medley, the 4×100, the 4×200, the 4×110 Meter Shuttle Hurdle, the 4×800, and the 4×400 Meter teams.
More ADM athletes could still get into the state meet, as the next eight individuals will be allowed to advance. We will find out those individuals and relay teams in the next coming days.
