The Perry City Council met in regular session on Monday.

Mayor Dirk Cavanaugh opened the meeting by acknowledging the recent passing of Jean Dowd, who dedicated 29 years to the City of Perry and worked at the McCreary Community Building.

Items on the agenda that were approved included awarding the 1,500 foot parallel taxiway extension contract to Peterson Construction, LLC, following a public hearing, and a resolution to submit an application to the FAA for eligible funds from the Airport Improvement Program.

Other items on the agenda that were approved included resolutions for professional services agreements with Bolton & Menk for the Willis Avenue and Highway 141 intersection improvements along with planning and zoning services and appointing TJ Maylum to the Park and Recreation Advisory Board and as an addition to the fire department roster.

The council also held the first and final reading to amend an ordinance for public health and safety – discharging weapons.
