Class 3A number 13 PCM (Monroe) visits the middle school gym in Jefferson tomorrow night to face a Greene County team that has lost five games in a row. Coach Chad Morton’s Rams are 4-6 on the season after a 58-53 loss on Saturday night in Gowrie to non-conference opponent Southeast Valley.
The Lady Jags scored 26 points in the fourth quarter, including 18 in the final 4:05 to come from 10 points back. SEV improved to 7-5 on the season behind the three-point shooting of junior reserve Cassie Zinnel, who made five of the long range shots, including three in the last four minutes. Zinnel finished with 21 points.
Greene County was led by senior Kayla Mobley with 25 points. Senior Stacy Mears added 12 points, all in the first half, and she accounted for both three-point goals for the Rams. SEV made six three-pointers.
PCM visits Jefferson looking to sweep the two-game series after a 68-35 victory in Monroe two days before Thanksgiving. Coach Morton told Raccoon Valley Radio will be handling the pressure defense the Mustangs employ, and not turning the ball over as much as his team did in the first meeting.
Coverage Tuesday on KG98 begins at 5:45 p.m. with a 6 p.m. tipoff. A game between the PCM and Greene County boys will follow.
