The ADM girls basketball team’s losing streak hit five games Saturday in Harlan, but unlike in the previous night’s defeat, Tigers head coach Corey Schneider came away with a good about the way his team played.

“It seems like the girls were shooting the ball with confidence [Saturday night], which we had been sorely lacking the last three or four games,” Schneider said. “We got some open looks, made some shots in the first quarter and that kind of gave the team the confidence they needed to perform pretty well against a team that has now won I think 36 games in a row between the last two seasons.”

Schneider went on to say that ADM’s 67-49 loss to the Cyclones was the team’s most complete and consistent four quarters of basketball all year. They simply ran into the buzzsaw that is the No. 1 ranked and 10-0 Harlan girls, who like in the Tigers’ loss to Boone the previous night, dominated in the post.

ADM could not match up with 6-1 junior Taylor Frederick or 6-3 senior Jess Schaben, a pair of returning first-team all state players who had their way inside on Saturday.

After scoring in double figures in just three of their last 12 quarters, the Tigers were 4-for-4 in that department on Saturday, and their 49 points were the most scored in their last five games. Trailing by nine at halftime, ADM got as close at six points in the third quarter, at which point the Cyclones were able to take control.

The Tigers were lead by double-digit scoring performances from juniors Brianna Mueller and Molly Jacobsen, and senior Kenzi Sutton.

ADM faces yet another tough test Tuesday night with a conference road matchup at No. 4 ranked Carlisle, a game that can be heard live on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45 p.m., and the girls game will tip at 6, with the boys game to follow.
