The Guthrie County Secondary Roads Department will be operating on a slight deficit in upcoming fiscal year 2016, according to County Engineer Josh Sebern. Sebern reported to the Board of Supervisors that he expects total revenue for his department to increase by 3.6% to $5.375 million during that fiscal year, with the majority of that coming from road use taxes. As far as outgoing money, Sebern says he expects his department to spend $5.524 million dollars in the next fiscal year, close to 40% of which will be spent on roads. Additionally, Sebern says he is keeping a close eye on the legislative session, as he believes something will happen with a gas tax, which would effect his department’s funds.
