After receiving a first round bye, the Nodaway Valley softball team defeated Southwest Valley 10-0 in the second round to advance them in the Class 2-A region 8 playoffs. Paige McElfish was excellent on the mound for the Wolverines. The sophomore pitched all five innings of the shutout, striking out 8 batters as well. She helped the cause with her bat, too, going 2/3 with a double, a home run, 3 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. Nodaway Valley’s next test will be a tough one as they head to Irwin tomorrow night to face 6th ranked IKM Manning. First pitch scheduled for 7 p.m.
