Though the 4th of July is still four months away the Perry Chamber is already preparing to make this year’s celebration the best yet.
Executive Director Bob Wilson says the annual Fireworks Drive fundraiser has been set for Thursday, April 7th and this year’s goal is bigger than ever.
“Our goal this year, we’re setting it high, but I want to make $15,000. We’ll see what happens, we’ve done nine (thousand dollars) for the last couple of years so 15,000 is a strong number. The cost of fireworks has increased a great deal. People always ask why we do this so early, if we order early enough we get another discount, if we pay in full we get a discount, so we’re trying to get the biggest bang for your buck out of this deal.”
Wilson says this year’s efforts will also include collections at Hy-Vee during the morning and evening commutes, along with remote broadcasts with the Big Red Radio throughout the weeks leading up to the drive.
Donations can always be dropped off at the Chamber office.
