The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office has been providing law enforcement to the City of Guthrie Center for over 10 months, as part of a 28E agreement enacted in July. At least one City Council member believes the Sheriff’s office is doing a great job.
Councilor Randy Nickel has acted as the lead-researcher in crafting ordinances regarding animal protection and control, and legal operation of all-terrain vehicles (ATV’s), off-road vehicles (ORV’s) and snowmobiles within the city limits. He says in addition to their effective patrolling, Sheriff Marty Arganbright and deputies have also been helpful in advising him on creating ordinances that they can effectively enforce. “All of these guys, including the Sheriff, are willing to give us input, whether it’s good or bad. They provide the information to point us in the right direction. Since they’re out on the streets, they can let us know if our ideas are realistic, or if it will be too cost-restrictive. Quite frankly, I’m pretty impressed with what we’re getting for our money.”
Nickel will give us an update on several city news items today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
