The Jefferson City Council has voted to add another step to the downtown restoration project.

A special meeting was held this week to discuss whether or not the City should add to the current project.  City Administrator Mike Palmer says a concrete issue that wasn’t anticipated came up once a portion of the reconstruction was completed.

“The area inside of the crosswalks, the concrete really showed up as broken up and something we really didn’t anticipate it looking that poorly but everything new around it made it look worse” says Palmer.

Palmer said the council had to decide whether they should do all four of the intersections – at an estimated cost of $130,000 or just the one in question.

“They are going to replace the bad concrete or the whole intersection at Lincolnway and Wilson, all of that interior area.  The other three intersections they’ll patch and repair as needed.”

Palmer says work on the center of the Lincolnway and Wilson will be completed once the other two intersections are finished.
