The ADM girls’ basketball team begins their Raccoon River Conference season on Tuesday, December 4th, as they host Carlisle.  ADM comes into the matchup with a 2-1 record having lost their most recent game on Friday, November 30th, in Pella.  Head coach Brett Watson said that while he doesn’t want to take anything away from Pella, he felt that his team was responsible for the loss and didn’t do very well in a number of areas.

Finishing around the hoop was something that Watson would have liked to have seen more consistently.  ADM was in the game in the first half and even into the third quarter, but Pella pulled away late to finish with a 12-point victory 57-45.  Though the 70 mile trip from Adel to Pella was easily the longest trip of the Tigers’ young season, Watson didn’t feel like the travel factored in, and instead felt the team was impatient and settled for any shot at times instead of the right shot.

When we asked Watson about what he knows of Carlisle, Watson did say they are a young squad and are very aggressive defensively, he quickly pointed out that if his team does what they’re supposed to, then the opponent makes little if any difference.  Watson turned that question around and went on to talk about how his team is lead by defense first and foremost, and that they really want to create chaos for their opponents, which means a successful night this evening will mean some confused Wildcats.

Coach Watson says plans on having a starting lineup tonight of Brianna Mueller, Emily Hoffman and Madi Bertman as guards and Abrianna Grapp and Kendra Chapman as their forwards.  The ADM girls’ home matchup can be heard on 107.9, K-107 with a pre-game beginning at 5:45 PM and tip-off at 6 PM.
