droughtWe’re now a week into what’s typically the wettest month of the year for the Raccoon River Valley.

After a very rainy month of May, one that broke statewide records, we’re off to a wet start so far this June as well.

According to the National Weather Service, Perry has received just over half an inch of rain so far.  Typically the city sees slightly more than five inches in June.  Just under half an inch has fallen on Jefferson, where they typically get five inches throughout the month.  And more than an inch of rain has already fallen in Guthrie Center in the past week, they usually get just over five inches in June as well.

All of Dallas, Greene and Guthrie Counties is now officially drought free according to the National Climatic Data Center.
