Friday, July 26th
The chief deputy and a deputy assisted personnel from Midland Power Cooperative with a collection service notice to a resident in rural Greene County.
A deputy issued a DNR salvage tag to a resident in the 1700 block of Quaker Avenue for a deer that had been struck by a vehicle.
A deputy was asked to intervene in a family dispute in Churdan. Both parties came to a mutual agreement after much discussion with the deputy.
A deputy was advised of an abandoned bicycle at the park in Churdan. The bicycle was retrieved and placed in the impound lot at Jefferson.
A deputy was dispatched to the 1000 block of East Main Street in Grand Junction for a theft report. The theft is under investigation at this time.
Saturday, July 27th
A deputy was advised of a dog running at large in the 1600 block of 305th Street. The dog was not located upon the deputy’s arrival.
A deputy is investigating a possible credit card scam in Rippey.
A deputy assisted the Jefferson Police Department with finding a gas drive off vehicle from the Kum and Go in Jefferson.
A deputy assisted the Jefferson Fire Department with a controlled burn that had spread to an old truck in the 1200 block of 290th Street.
Sunday, July 28th
A deputy while on routine patrol, witnessed a two vehicle accident that occurred on 220th Street and S Avenue. A 2001 Chevrolet S 10 pickup truck owned by Pamela Lynn Barkley of Lehigh, Iowa, and being driven by her son Joshua Barkley, was attempting to make a left hand turn onto S Avenue when it was struck on the driver’s side door by a 2008 Buick Lacrosse being driven by Virginia Carolyn Timmons of Prairie City, Iowa. Timmons explained to the deputy that she thought the pickup was going to turn right as she began to pass. The Grand Junction Fire and Rescue responded and assisted at the accident scene. The 2001 S-10 pickup owned by Pamela Barkley sustained an estimated $8,000 in damages and the 2008 Buick owned by Virginia Timmons sustained an estimated $4,500 in damages. Timmons was cited at the scene for unsafe passing.
A deputy was asked by the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office in trying to help find a person of interest from the Ralston, Iowa, area that may be in Scranton. The deputy was not able to locate the male subject at that time.
A deputy was called to 283rd Street and Redwood Avenue to assist the Grand Junction Fire and Rescue with transporting a female that was thrown from her horse. The female was transported to the Greene County Medical Center for further evaluation.
A deputy was asked by an out of county resident to do a welfare check on a male that resides in Grand Junction. The male was found to be safe upon the deputy’s arrival.
A deputy was advised of a theft of playground equipment from the Rippey School. The theft is under investigation at this time.
In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
