basketball thru hoopComing off a tough-to-swallow loss to Carlisle on Tuesday, the ADM boys basketball team is back on the hardwood tonight to take on the 5-4 Bondurant-Farrar Bluejays on the road.

At 3-8 on the season, the Tigers could start to feel discouraged by their struggles, but if Tuesday proved anything, it’s that ADM has guys capable of stepping up when their teammates go down. Joe and Robbie Sloss and Kyle Ferguson all scored in double-figures with Jacob Hardy out of the lineup Tuesday.

While Tuesday’s loss was tough to handle given the Tigers played the majority of the game with the lead, Coach Mager says there are positives to takeaway.

“We want to win games, we don’t want to let those kind of opportunities slip away, but I said, ‘if you look at the positives–in 32 minutes you played 30 minutes of pretty solid basketball.  It was really that 2-minute lull there that got you beat’.  And unfortunately, our margin for error because of injuries, lack of height and things like that, our margin for error is pretty thin.”

The Tigers will have to battle being short-handed again tonight, as starting center Jacob Hardy is doubtful with a hip injury.

ADM takes on a Bondurant-Farrar team tonight that has been up-and-down this season.  However, the Bluejays have experienced most of their ups at home, and Coach Mager feels it will take a great performance from his point guard to give the Tigers a chance to pull off the road win.

“Our pace car is pretty much always Logan Essy.  If he plays well–if he’s distributing, scoring, defending consistently–if he’s doing those three things, the other guys get settled in and we have a good chance.”

In his two games against Bondurant last season, Essy averaged 11.5 points.  Essy and the rest of his Tiger teammates will take to the floor 15 minutes after the girls’ game ends tonight.

Pregame coverage of the Tigers vs. Bluejays doubleheader begins at 5:45 on K107.
