Scranton ManufacturingScranton Manufacturing has been approved for a $250,000 grant for its building expansion project slated to begin later this spring.

The grant was awarded by the Economic Development Set-Aside program through the Community Development Block Grant.  The Greene County Board of Supervisors, Midwest Partnership, Region XII Council of Government and Scranton Manufacturing worked together to apply for the grant.

Midwest Partnership Executive Director Chad Schreck says this grant will cover 10% of the $2.5 million expansion project and he describes what the direct funding will be used for from the grant.

“This one is for the creation of jobs (and) the creation of business expansion, so (we’re) looking at a 56,000 square-foot expansion and a lot of new equipment and the jobs is the number one driving factor in the funding.”

Supervisors Chair John Muir says he’s excited for the economic growth that Scranton Manufacturing will continue to bring.

“I think it’s a real success story over there.  They’re increasing their business and adding jobs and adding buildings and I think any help they can get is good.  They’ve proved that they’re successful and I’m just excited that they are growing.”

Scranton Manufacturing is planning on creating 70 new jobs along with their expansion of their waste management trucks and trash compactor facility in the City of Scranton.
