The Guthrie Center City Council will meet with members of their city fire department, and the rural fire department tonight. The only agenda item is one which proved to be very controversial at last week’s city council meeting, regarding the city fire department’s need for a new truck, and the fire department’s preference for the city and its taxpayers to incur debt for the full $270,000 amount of the truck, rather than using some of the four hundred thousand dollars that the fire department, both city and rural combined, received from an estate last month. The special meeting takes place at 6 pm, at the Guthrie Center fire hall.
