The joy of victory for the ADM boys basketball Tigers was short lived, as a night after snapping their six-game losing streak with a dramatic overtime win at Boone, they were thoroughly outplayed on Saturday, losing 77-56 at Harlan.
The main culprit for the loss was ADM’s defense, which could not slow down Cyclones’ junior Kyle Juhl, who dropped a game-high 39 points on 16-of-20 shooting, including 5-of-7 from long distance. He added 10 rebounds for his second consecutive double-double.
ADM looked unready to take the court at game’s onset, and was outscored 22-5 midway through the first quarter. The Tigers trailed by 23 at halftime, a deficit that proved too difficult to overcome.
For the second consecutive game, the Tigers were lead in scoring by sophomore Matt Larson, who shot 7-of-10 from the floor and 3-of-4 on 3’s to finish with 17 points. He’s scored 33 points on 12-of-19 shooting and 7-of-10 on 3’s over the last two games. Senior Joe Sloss posted his third consecutive game in double figures with 12 points, to go along with a team-high nine rebounds.
ADM returns to conference play Tuesday night at Carlisle for a girls-boys doubleheader that can be heard live on K107 and raccoonvalleyradio.com. Pregame coverage begins at 5:45 p.m., the girls will tip at 6 and the boys game will follow.
