Greene County was a 42-31 Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girls’ basketball winner over South Hamilton in Jewell on Tuesday night to even their season record at two wins and two losses in action heard on KG98 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com. The Rams are 2-1 in the conference and 2-2 overall prior to Class 3A number one ranked Nevada in Jefferson tomorrow night as part of a rare Thursday night of varsity basketball, which can also be heard on KG98 and wwwraccoonvalleyradio.com.

The Rams led 15-2 after one quarter and built the advantage to 20 points in the second period. Up 23-3 with more than four minutes to play before intermission, the Rams did not score again until the third quarter. SH trailed 23-10 at the half and never was closer than 10 points the rest of the way.

Sophomore Laurin Lyons had a career best 16 points for the Rams and she led all scorers. Lyons previous high of 15 was in the previous game, a 41-34 victory over CMB (Maxwell) in Jefferson. The win was the second straight for Greene County and also their second game scoring over 40 points after collecting just 24 and 20 in the first two games. Sunny Mobley added nine points, with Taylor Wessling at seven and six for Nicole Rohner. Dina Garcia had 11 points for the Hawks.
