Perry City Council 8-21

With the calendar year almost over and a membership shift in the Perry City Council, appointments for positions and committees for the coming year were recently approved.

First, the Council approved the appointments of various City positions, including: Paula Rychnovsky as City Clerk; Susie Moorhead as Finance Officer and City Treasurer; DuWayne Dalen as City Attorney; Eric Vaughn as Police Chief; and Chris Hinds as Volunteer Fire Chief. The appointments for those individuals will run through the end of 2020. Another appointment was for the City’s Compliance Officer, which will once again be filled by Abraham Cardenas through the end of 2018. Additionally, the Council reappointed Carolyn McNeill to the Perry Day Care and the Dallas County Early Childhood Education Board through next year. Council member Chuck Schott also agreed to serve as Mayor Pro-Tem for incoming Mayor John Andorf, a position he filled under outgoing Mayor Jay Pattee.

Finally, the Council approved appointments to the standing committees, though they were mostly unchanged: Barb Wolling and Randy McCaulley will serve on the public safety committee; Dean Berkland and incoming Council member Vicki Klein will make up the public facilities and parks committee; McCaulley and Schott will oversee public works and zoning; Schott and Wolling will serve on budget and finance; and Berkland and Klein will be on the administration and personnel committee. McCaulley said he supported the committee appointments, but added he’d like to see them perhaps mixed up a bit next year.
