A popular event returns this weekend in Jefferson ahead of Easter Sunday.

The Jefferson Parks and Recreation Department is teaming up again with the Jefferson Kiwanis Club to host an Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday. It will be for boys and girls that are toddlers through third grade. Kids will be split up into age groups to hunt in different areas around the outside of the Greene County Community Center if there is decent weather. If there is inclement weather, the hunt will be held inside. JPRD Director Vicky Lautner appreciates all of the volunteers and businesses that help sponsor the popular event.

“Last year I think we had our largest group, we had like close to 150 kids. And it’s nice that the Kiwanians will help us. They will go out and hide the eggs, as you can hide them openly. The businesses are really good to help us fill the eggs. So it’s a good effort for Jefferson businesses to help with.”

Plus, each child can have their name entered into prize drawings following the hunt and the Easter Bunny will be there for pictures. Registrations will begin at 9:30am on Saturday, with the hunt to start at 10. Pre-registration is encouraged so everyone is guaranteed to have at least one egg. Call the community center at 515-386-2138 or stop by to sign up.
