With a full season of the updated offense under their belt, the 2019 AC/GC football team is looking to turn a corner in year two.

Fall practice officially got underway Monday afternoon for AC/GC football, volleyball, and cross country. While this is the first week of practice, AC/GC football coach Cody Matthewson has been holding mini-camp for players to get familiar with the offensive and defensive systems.

This will be the second year Matthewson is implementing his option-style offense. He tells Raccoon Valley Radio he’s seen a big jump from his team early in year two, “I think a year ago, we were pretty much just trying to get the offense in, get the plays in, get our schemes in. This year, the kids understand the plays. They understand what they need to do. They understand their assignments. Obviously we’re going to have some issues with some of our younger guys and getting them to understand the expectations and how to do it. Overall, the players are doing a great job, especially the older leadership.”

The Chargers kick off their season August 30th to try and start the year in the win column for the first time since 2014 and get revenge on IKM-Manning.
