Sawyer Schiltz

Greene County’s high school wrestling team has been forfeiting four or five weights through its 5-4 start to the dual meet season. Senior Sawyer Schiltz has split time between 220 and 285 lbs. A district qualifier at 220 last Feb., Schiltz sees a path to fewer forfeits from the Rams in 2021. “I think we’ll get some of those filled soon. We’ve got a couple guys going up and a couple guys going down, so we could have an almost full lineup. We’ll still be lacking the 106 and 113 pounders because we don’t have any little guys that can make that cut, so we’re out of luck there. But it definitely does take everyone to win the duals.”

Greene County is on a dual  meet winning streak of four in a row, and is next scheduled to take the mat on Tuesday, Jan. 5 in Greenfield vs. Nodaway Valley, Martensdale-St. Mary’s, and Woodward-Granger.
