Progress continues for a project at the Perry Municipal Airport.

According to City Administrator Sven Peterson, construction to convert the old runway to the new parallel taxiway will begin this spring. He notes that the city was just approved by the Federal Aviation Administration to complete the full parallel taxiway that will be 5,500 feet in length. Peterson mentions that the airport will continue to develop for years to come.

“There’s probably always going to be projects out at the airport to help facilitate and encourage growth and attracting more aircraft to the field, but this is really the last couple of pieces of that major runway project. So, we’re excited to see that getting closer to being done.”

Peterson adds that the construction for the full parallel taxiway will be completed in either 2027 or 2028.
