Young kids are encouraged to sign up for a Mother’s Day craft with two entities in Jefferson.

Youth Services Librarian Bailey Mount says she is partnering with Warm Wishes on the downtown square for a unique activity for pre-kindergarten through fourth graders to make their gifts for Mother’s Day. Mount tells Raccoon Valley Radio the theme is “Center of Our Universe” is fitting both for her love of space but also that mother-figures in our lives tend to be the center of our universe.

Mount details that participants will get a chance to make sunshine greeting cards, star-beaded bracelets and spinning earth crafts. She makes one important announcement when families go to sign up their child for this program.

“As always, please, my annual request, the moms should not be coming to the Mother’s Day programs and helping make their own gifts. Are you listening dads, uncles, grandparents? Mom should not be coming and helping make her own present, it should be a surprise. Please come with your kid, it’s so much fun. I might sound scary saying this to you right now, I’m not scary. You’re going to have such a great time.”

The Mother’s Day Crafting Event is free and it takes place from 10am-noon this Saturday. Interested individuals must sign up as space is limited. Click here to register.
