Hanna Fouch
To say Greene County High School sophomore Hanna Fouch has recovered nicely since reconstructive knee surgery in the Spring of 2024 could widely be considered a bit of an understatement. A four sport athlete at the time of the surgery, she didn’t fully compete again for the Rams until the 2025 softball season.
She is the rare combination of track & field athlete that runs sprints and throws the discus. Fouch is the only girl on the Rams’ record setting distance medley relay that isn’t a senior, and the only one who does a field event. As a sprinter, one might think that she long jumps or high jumps, but Fouch ranks third throwing the discus leading up to the Class 2A State Qualifying Meet at Story City hosted by Roland-Story this Thursday. She’s topped 105 feet more than once this season and a good toss Thursday could land her a spot in next week’s Coed State Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
The previously mention distance medley relay is among the best in 2A this season after winning the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference race in 2:18.69. That time set a new conference record, as well as a facility record at Linduska Field. Addison Gannon and Fouch run the 200 meter legs with Becca Anderson on the 400 meter leg and Kaycee Pittman anchoring on the 800 meters.
The Greene County girls and boys will be vying for State Meet qualification in several events. Action starts at 4 p.m. in Story City on Thursday.
Fouch, also a first team All-Conference hitter in volleyball, will be one of the guests on the PM Sports Magazine KG98 Edition at 6 o’clock tonight on KG98. Dererk Merk, Greene County’s head girls’ track & field coach, as well as Paton-Churdan girls and boys track & field head coach Korey Jeschke, are the other guests on tonight’s show.
