The weather cooperated for the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference girls’ golf tournament on Wednesday and Greene County junior Rachael Danielson responded. She shot 42-45=87 and finished in third place among more than 45 golfers at Cedar Pointe Course near Boone. Gilbert’s Britta Snyder was medalist at five over par 77 for the 18 hole event and PCM’s Bre Maher was runner-up at 84.
Danielson was 15 over par for the 18 holes, and she repeated as an all-conference golfer. The other Rams struggled with consistency. Lindsey Paulsen shot 121 with Ellie Madson and 123, and Emily Heupel shooting 134.
Nevada was the team champion with 371 strokes, followed by Gilbert at 383, South Hamilton (Jewell) 402, PCM (Monroe) 410, Roland-Story (Story City) 424, CMB (Maxwell) 461, Greene County 465, and 634 for North Polk (Alleman). Saydel (Des Moines) did not field a team.
The Greene County girls are off until next week, but the Greene County boys play this afternoon in the South Hamilton tournament at Jewell.
