The 2018 season came to an end last night for the West Central Valley Wildcats softball program (5-24). The Wildcats played host to the Clarinda Cardinals Monday night in a play-in game of the Class 2A Region 2 bracket. Clarinda plated two runs each in the second, third, and sixth innings to propel themselves past West Central Valley, 6-3. West Central Valley head softball coach Tayrn Van Ryswyk told Raccoon Valley Radio via text message that field errors played a factor in the playoff-opening loss. Senior Taylor Beane and sophomores Jenna Merical and Ellie Smith each had two hits apiece in the setback. The loss ends West Central Valley’s season at 5-24. The Wildcats lose Beane, Grace Dupuy, Erin Franklin, and Kennedy Lose to graduation.
