The Greene County School Board recently approved a project for the local FFA chapter.
Last fall, Greene County FFA members gave a presentation to the Board outlining the construction of a new greenhouse. Then at their regular meeting in March, the Board approved the cost estimate of $46,763 from Rimol Greenhouse Systems. The structure is going to be 24-feet by 36-feet, which the high school construction class will build. FFA member Autumn Villebro talks about why they wanted a greenhouse.
“Well we’ve done projects with the greenhouses in the past and we think with the new building it would be really important to also have a new greenhouse that we can kind of improve our facilities and also our experiences that we know what we like to do.”
Villebro says in the past, they’ve used the greenhouse to grow houseplants that are used for their spring plant sale. Following the School Board’s approval, it was mentioned that the FFA organization would handle the cost of building and installing the facility.
