Adel residents looking to do some spring cleaning can get unwanted items picked up during an event tomorrow.
The City of Adel announces that Ankeny Sanitation will be coming through Adel beginning at 7 a.m. to collect any items that are no longer needed during the Spring Cleanup Day. The city reminds residents to place the items on the curbs and there will be a $20 charge to purchase an appliance sticker (TVs 24 inches and over will be $30 and console TVs $45) in order for those to be picked up.
According to the city, liquids, car batteries, concrete, or propane gas cylinders will not be accepted.
The Hazardous Waste Drop-Off will be held the same day from 10 a.m. to noon at Kinnick-Feller Park. The South Dallas County Landfill is partnering with Metro Waste Authority to allow residents to dispose of household hazardous wastes for free. Items that will be accepted include ammonia-based cleaners, batteries, stains and varnishes, pesticides and more. Latex paint, fire extinguishers or propane gas cylinders will not be accepted.
