The Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session on Tuesday.

The Board heard construction updates about capital projects, including the Adel Emergency Medical Services Station.

The Board will read an ALS Awareness Proclamation.

Items on the agenda that were approved included a resolution for the city of Adel 80/20 voluntary annexation and the second reading of proposed changes to Chapter 45 zoning ordinance regarding accessory dwelling units.

The Board moved back the Adel Historical Society display use request until next week, along with the Voas mitigation bank phase II update.

The Board then continued the meeting later in the evening and held a public hearing for the fiscal year 2027 budget. Board Chair Julia Helm thanked those who helped put together the budget and said the process started back in November.

She added that the proposed budgeted expenses are around $61.8 million spread through various service areas, including public safety, roads and transportation, capital projects and more.

Helm detailed that the total urban levy rate will be $3.4 for fiscal year 2027, which is reduction of .11 per $1,000 in taxable valuation and a decrease of 3.1% from the previous year. The total rural levy will be $1.86, which is a reduction of .06 and a decrease 1.5% from fiscal year 2026.

Supervisor Brad Golightly expressed his appreciation for everyone who worked together throughout the budget process.

“One thing I’d like to say is just to applaud everybody’s efforts in working together and putting together this budget is a team effort.”

The Board approved a resolution adopting the budget following a presentation and also approved the compensation board’s recommendation of a 3.5% increase for elected official’s salaries.
