Greene County’s high school track & field teams automatically qualified seven events for the May 21-23 Coed State Meet at Drake Stadium in Des Moines. The Rams were in a Class 2A State Qualifying Meet in Story City yesterday and in 2A, the first and second place finishers in each event are automatic State qualifiers. All seven Greene County events finished in second place. Other events could receive At-Large berths and that list is expected later today.

Coach Chad Morton’s boys had four runner-up finishes that made it to State. Senior Drew Wolterman was second in the 800 meter un in 2:02.07 and the other three second place events are relays. The sprint medley was second in 1:36.27 with juniors Jaron Jacobs, Lincoln Schwander, and Zack Stalder, along with Wolterman. The 4 x 100 was second in :44.08 with Jacobs, senior Aden Bardole, Schwander, and Stalder, and the 4 x 400 also was second with Jacobs, Schwander, Bardole, and Wolterman in 3:33.81.

The Rams were second three times in girls’ events. Senior Becca Anderson was the 200 meter dash runner-up in :26.54, and the other two second place finishes were in relays. The distance medley ran 4:18.67 with senior Addison Gannon, sophomore Hanna Fouch, Anderson, and senior Kaycee Pittman. Those same four girls were second in the 4 x 400 in  season best time of 4:10.23.

The Rams hope to get other events qualified on the At-Large basis.
