greene countyGreene County’s 2015 land valuations were recently released.

County Real Estate and Tax Coordinator Pam Olerich says land valuations for the County increased by 0.85 percent to $622,416,323. Urban areas saw the largest increase of 2.63 percent and rural had a slight increase of 0.21 percent. However, agricultural land valuations suffered a four percent decrease in 2015. The tax increment financing (TIF) requests went up by 45.63 percent in 2015.

Some of the largest increases were Rippey’s agricultural land with a 38.95 percent increase, due to the production of wind turbines; Churdan’s agricultural land with a 35.34 percent increase, due to reclassification and Jefferson’s agricultural land with a 21.66 percent increase, due to reclassification with Wild Rose.

Grand Junction’s agricultural land decreased by 8.11 percent, due to a reclassification. All townships are showing a decrease as well.

Many of the land values will change from agricultural to commercial or industrial, due to the recent new developments with Wild Rose, Bauer Built Manufacturing, Scranton Manufacturing and Hy-Vee in Jefferson. The Greene County Assessor’s office predicts all trends to be similar for 2016, along with TIF valuations impacting every entities budget.

The 2015 land valuations are based on what the land is valued at on January 1, 2015.
